Twitter

Armed with a bit of knowledge about what Twitter is all about, share your thoughts on this fast growing online phenomenon.

Twitter is an interesting phenomenon to say the least! People share everything about themselves that they might not share with someone face to face. It is almost reaching out to more people but having a wall up at the same time. Twitter can be informative, entertaining, self promoting and a bit silly. I can see why it is so popular but dislike the fact anyone can follow you unless you go through all your followers and delete the people you do not want!

LibraryThing

Was the site user-friendly? Did you find it difficult to navigate?

Very easy to navigate through and was user friendly. It is a community of people getting together and enjoying books they love and want to share their thoughts on them and what they have read!

Kinda cute!

Online Productivity Tools!

Do you see free online tools like these eventually replacing expensive software like MS Office?

Answer:

Do you see yourself using these tools or will you stick to more traditional methods. If you were to use one of these tools regularly, which would it be and why?

I am definitely going to use these tools. I will probally use Google Docs over other tools because it fills most of my needs for something I might have to do for work at home or personal!

Flickr and YouTube

Comment on Flickr and YouTube. Were they user-friendly?

Most of the sites I go to and need to look at their pictures they use flickr. When I have went to my friend that is a professional photographer...she uses flickr. It is a great site.
Now YouTube I use everyday because of my kids. They can watch a video and it is so easy to look things up. Another easy site.
So user friendly......Yes!

Comment on the quality, entertainment value, or usefulness of the content on these sites.

Now with both sites the quality all depends on the person who uploaded the content. Usually pretty good but once in awhile....not so good! I think entertainment value is like beauty.....it all depends on the viewer! Usefulness is like entertainment! All in all two thumbs up!

RSS

Were you able to successfully set up your RSS feed? If not, where did you run into problems? If you were successful, does this make information-gathering more convenient for you?

Setting up my RSS feed was easily. A couple of clicks and it was all done and I must say with things I look at it does make it easy because it is all in one place. I think the convenient nature will come in handy more if I am not at my laptop at home and do not have my favourites. Very interesting!

Google Universe

What do you like about the Google product? What do you dislike? Would you recommend the product to friends and colleagues?

OK! I use google all the time. Mostly as a search engine but this time I am going to choose google maps.

Now this is so cool. Not to sure how to get somewhere.....it will show you! Want to know what a location looks like......google maps will show you! You can even look at google earth and it will show you maps in 3D. Now the downside is that not everywhere is on the map nor a location. Plus, it is not an up to date image because I was in the winter/spring season with snow viewing Calgary locations that looked like the summer months.

Would I recommend this to a friend or Colleagues? Most definitely!

Facebook

Why do you think social networking sites are so popular? What are the main appeal factors?

Social networking sites are so popular because you can reconnect and stay connecting with people. You can follow your favourite website or keep up to date with a cause. You can also share things about yourself. I think that in itself answers the other question on the main appeal factors!

For you, is Facebook useful or a time-waster?

Facebook is useful and a time-waster. Love to keep up with the people who have let me be their friend(s), keep up with my interests and share a bit about myself. Sometimes I stay up a little later than I should or use it when I am board at home. It is a love/hate relationship on a few levels!

Wikipedia

Wikipedia: Were you able to find a topic obscure enough that Wikipedia doesn’t cover it?

I would say no congradulations for me! What does it not cover Wikipedia? I tried even a few silly topics like "Brain Farts" and even my last name and it's origins. I think I would need much more time to find a topic obscure enough that I could, "wow" and post!
I love the fact that the information on this site is at hand and that it is open so people can edit, add, etc. all the pop culture topics and then some, but to use it as a TRUE reliable source. I would be careful!

Delicious

How comfortable are you using Best Websites, after this practice? Do you have any tips for using Best Websites on Delicious?

It is very interesting how you can group information together or narrow down information Delicious.
I want to honestly admit that I am still getting use to it and would like Delicious to become second nature instead of feeling like I am stumbling along.
Any tip I would give is you should learn and use any resource to keep your skills up and make it second nature for when an information search comes up!
